In Stockholm Coiltech presented new dry coolers with adiabatic filter system
Excellent feedback at the recently concluded Nordbygg exhibition
The latest edition of Nordbygg, the most important exhibition in Northern Europe for the construction sector, has successfully concluded, having registered this year more than 54,000 visitors from all over Europe.
This international stage was the favourable showcase for Coiltech to launch its new dry coolers with adiabatic filter system.
Coiltech AB, a Swedish company associated with ECO, specializing in the production of special heat exchangers and ventilated units for large industrial applications, displayed its latest products for the first time under the Luvata banner. Standing out among all is the new application for COOL , well-known modular liquid cooler produced by Coiltech, that has been integrated with an adiabatic filter for commercial and industrial applications in environments with medium to high external temperatures, which tend to come close to or even exceed the output temperature of the process liquid.
Specifically developed for the cooling of process liquid in large industrial plants, the new COOL with adiabatic filter is the most technically advanced and safest solution among applications with water-cooling systems of the heat exchanger fins.
Already recognized as the preferred solution over the complex cooling towers, the adiabatic filter system has numerous advantages compared to other systems, such as the use of nebulized water.
In fact, the filters, by avoiding contact of the exchanger fins and tubes with the water, eliminate the risk of corrosion of the fins and tubes; moreover, preventing the formation of limescale and consequently saving on costly purification and demineralisation systems.
An item to be highlighted, especially for air conditioning systems, is the lack of water stagnation, a primary cause of the formation of Legionella. The filter system, in fact, allows the recirculation of the water through special ducting along with its complete re-use and substitution.
Even in windy environments, the cooling water, that is discharged and flowed down the filter, is not dispersed, contrary to how spray systems function, guaranteeing the maximum endurance of the system.
The operation of the machine is managed by an electronic control unit with frequency converter that regulates the speed of the fan motor, the pump and the water valve. When the external temperature decreases, a sensor automatically blocks the adiabatic system, optimizing energy consumption.
ECO has already applied this same technology in its VCE-W, achieving excellent results.
The filters, which can of course be removed during the cold season, are made of the same material that has been used for some time in air treatment units and are generally installed on the intake sides of the machine, guaranteeing durability and maximum hygiene. An ad hoc project also sustains the development of solutions that are optimized for low noise versions using the latest generation of electronically commutated fan motor systems and filters with low pressure drop.
In conclusion, the application of adiabatic filters, thanks to the water cooling of the air upon entry, allows a significant reduction in the surface of the heat exchanger, consequently saving on raw materials and energy consumption, also enabling the reduction of the number of fan motors.
Luvata’s Coils&Coolers Division is the leading global manufacturer of finned pack heat exchangers, which can also boast a prominent role in the design and production of unit coolers and remote condensers for the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors and of AC refilling and maintenance equipment for the automotive industry.

Manufacture stop of coils with 3/8"-tubes
As from the 1st of April 2007 Coiltech is going to stop manufacturing coils with 3/8"-tubes.
The products concerned are:
Air heater ATDA
- Air cooler ATDC
- DX-coils for evaporative refrigerants
Regarding ATDA and ATDC we are going to switch to 1/2"-tubes, with a minor change on the effect as a result. In most cases the effect will be even higher.
Concerning the DX-coils (QJE, QJO) with 3/8"-tubes, we will solely change to 1/2"-tubes.
We are going to make an update of our selection program "Coils" according to the above-mentioned changes. Even our catalogue data will be updated on our web site www.coiltech.com as from the 16th of March 2007.
The product groups QJHD and QJCD, with 3/8"-tubes, will not be effected by the change of tube dimension.
If big volumes of coils with 3/8"-tubes are required, it will be possible to contact other manufacturing units within the Eco Group.
We hope that these changes will not cause too much trouble. For further information please contact our Sales Department at +46121 191 00.

Successful participation at ONS
From August 22th to August 25th, Coiltech exhibited at the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) trade show in Stavanger, Norway. This is the second time Coiltech has participated to this exhibition which is one of the world´s most important appointment places for European companies operating in the oil, gas and energy sectors.
The ONS 2006 exhibition and conference in Stavanger attracted approximately 34 000 visitors and it was attended by 1251 exhibitors, with 50 per cent of them coming from outside Norway. During the 4 days exhibition, Coiltech had the chance to show products especially developed for extreme offshore and marine environments, such as coils in titanium and other material with higher corrosion resistance, in addition to our special heater ATDI.
During the exhibition, a great deal of contacts were made with potential customers. The majority consisted of companies based in Norway, but also deriving from other countries, all of them operating globally. Interest for our titanium coil for the offshore business was strong. A lot of the people who visited our stand were asking about it and specifically asked about the delivery time. The visitors were not only interested in our products, but also in our technical and operational capabilities to develop specific and tailor made solutions.
The contacts we made at ONS are advantageous for future marketing activities in this ever growing sector. We see ONS as a key place to meet partners, potential customers and mostly important to market ourselves to a wider and international audience.

HVDC-coolers to Project Estlink
Coiltech will provide 22 HVDC-coolers for the Project Estlink HVDC Light link. The Estlink - the first interconnection between the Baltics and Nordic electricity markets - forms part of the European Union’s plans to expand interconnections in Europe, and is an important step towards increasing energy efficiency.
11 of Coiltech HVDC-coolers will be placed at the station in Estonia and the remaining at the station in Finland. This is an important and exciting delivery for Coiltech, as we are introducing a completely new construction design for the tube ends and headers.
The link will cross the Gulf of Finland and connect to substations near Tallinn and Helsinki. The whole link will be underground or underwater by high-tech extruded (oil-free) HVDC Light cables; there will be no overhead lines.
Estlink’s primary objective is to supply the Nordic electricity market with electricity generated in the Baltics. The Estlink also allows for electricity transit and, in the long-term, provides an alternative electricity purchase channel to cover potential deficits of generating capacity. The whole project will be completed in 20 months.
